Contract Areas

Since incorporating in March 1998, The Heron Group, LLC has been awarded contracts in the following areas:

• Developed a Contingency Planning Assistant for the Desert Locust Group of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) headquarters located in Rome.
• Developed a Water Quality/Quantity model for the Hopewell Big Woods Project in southeastern Pennsylvania to enable communities to evaluate their current state of development against potential impacts to local water supplies.
• Providing a forest pest management monitoring system in Siberia for USAID/Moscow's 5 year FOREST Project
• Training of African and U.S. professionals in the use and application of knowledge engineering/decision support software NetWeaver and GeoNetWeaver that address complex issues related to the environment, agriculture, and natural resource management in Africa.
• Applying knowledge engineering software (NetWeaver™) to community-based Natural Resource Management (CBNRM) in Africa for USAID.
• Applying knowledge engineering software (GeoNetWeaver™) to strategic planning and monitoring in the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Eastern Europe and Eurasia Bureau.
• Facilitated a strategic research-planning workshop in Malaysia for the Sustainable Forest Management Programme of the International Center on Forestry Research (CIFOR).
• Facilitated organizational development, team building, and management in a new unit in the East Asia and Pacific region for the World Bank.
• Integrated social and ecological information in a decision-support system for the USDA Forest Service.
• Facilitated results-oriented proposal development and monitoring and evaluation plans for private sector companies
• Facilitated retreat for World Bank on forestry and safeguards policy.
